According to legend Saint Valentine of Terni was a Roman physician and priest who was martyred in about 270 AD because he secretly performed marriage ceremonies for soldiers after the Emperor Claudius II had prohibited young men from marrying, believing "single" men were better soldiers.
Saint Valentine’s day became more widely associated with love from the 14th century onwards with gifts and cards (like we do today) becoming popular in the 18th century.
These days Saint Valentine’s day is big business, nearly $20 Billion in the United States alone!!
What do you do to celebrate Saint Valentine’s day?
Let's "dust off" our hiking boots, "wrap up" warm and "put our best foot forward" on a fun excursion to La Mola!
Conversation and activities in English as we "burn off" some calories and "dust off the cobwebs" on a lovely (*weather permitting) autumn Saturday morning!
