  • Long weekend

    Sabies que a Anglaterra el dia 1 de maig es festa grossa?! És la festa que dona la benvinguda a la primavera. D’aquest dia n’hi diuen May Day. Al llegir-ho el primer que em va venir al cap va ser l’expressió per demanar ajuda, però no, no té res a veure. La festa s’escriu separat, May Day, i l’expressió per demanar ajuda s’escriu tot junt “Mayday”.

    A Amèrica el dia del treballador es celebra el primer dilluns de setembre, fent així un “long weekend” i simbòlicament, el final de l’estiu.

    Els americans no fan servir ni l’expressió ni el fet en sí de “fer pont”. Fan festa només el dia festiu i n’hi diuen “Day off” i l’endemà van a  treballar, encara que sigui divendres.

    En canvi nosaltres sí que coneixem i utilitzem l’expressió “fer pont”, i quina sensació més guai quan en el calendari una festa cau en dijous o en dimarts! Cert que no sempre, ni tothom pot disfrutar dels ponts. Nosaltres aquest 2 de maig podem gaudir-ne i fer d’aquests dies un “long weekend”.

    Bon pont per aquelles i aquells que en podeu disfrutar. Bon “day off” per a totes aquelles persones que demà teniu festa. I molt bons dies per a tots i totes en general. Per els qui treballeu, ànims i gràcies!
